Rescue a dog this holiday season and save a life

Ozzie & Reese snuggling during a nap
Just a reminder to everyone out there considering buying a puppy for Christmas. Please visit your local shelter or rescue group first. I adopted our beautiful boy Ozzie on Christmas Eve morning last year. He was over 6 yrs old, very emaciated and timid but with some love, care, proper nutrition and security, he flourished into a happy, healthy, energetic, loving part of our family. I don't regret getting a rescue for one minute. He knew commands, was potty trained, had good manners, walked on a leash beautifully and was much easier than training our puppy Reese. Puppies are cute but they're so much more work and often get neglected and lack for training once the holidays have passed and the newness wears off. Rescues are a great way to give an animal a second chance, or in our case, 4th chance. Yes, we are Ozzie's 4th home. He went through 2 divorces and 1 foreclosure and was tossed aside by each family. You can stop that cycle and provide a forever home for a happy furry friend. Ozzie was our greatest gift last Christmas and he makes me smile every day. Please consider rescue before buying a dog. And if a purebred dog is important to you, there are so many purebred dogs in the shelters and breed specific rescues. Just look at these two handsome boys. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
